As a way of empowering the girl child and giving them a course to live a positive life, the QUEEN OF BENOSSKY pageant serves also as a medium to kick against youth restiveness, prostitution, cultism, and other social vices among the girl child.
As part of a tour within the Bayelsa State carried out by the organisers of this pageant the team made a courtesy visit to the Honorable Commissioner of Youth Development, Bayelsa State, Chief Collins Cocodia on Tuesday, 4th October 2016 in his office at the State Secretariat in Yenagoa the state capital.
Chief Collins Cocodia in his remark commends the organisers for taking the bold step in pulling up this project and urged the contestants to also take serious their academics and education in as much as they are taking part in this great project of youth empowerment of the girl child as all contestants will be trained in entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and make-up during this pageant. The winner gets a make-up studio and also serves as a peace ambassador with the Ministry of Youth Development as confirmed by the Commissioner. This pageant also helps to curb the issue of unemployment and engages the girl youths in entrepreneurship and creating so many self-employed females who will in turn employ others in the state rather than roaming the streets in search for “greener pastures”.
Young ladies are therefore encouraged to take part in this life changing project and become better youths in the state and the society at large. Purchase of forms is still on as final audition kicks off 15th of this month.
